How to Make the Filament sticks to the Bed

As rule of thumb, you should start with a slow print speed between 20 and 30 mm/s for the first layer: you can try after to speed up given your print surface, the filament and its temperature.

Some materials may need a slightly higher temperature to stick to the Bed for the first layer: for instance, some PLA like more 210C on the first layer then you can print other layers at 175C. Be careful and do not overheat the material .

For loaded (Fiberglass, Aramid, Carbon, Natural fibers) filament there is less warping in general, use the base material as guideline, you may need to increase a bit the first layer height to 0.25mm or 0.3mm.

Material Family Temperature Range Adhesion Method Enclosed Printer Heated Chamber Slicer Settings
PLA 40 to 60C
  • Aluminium: PEI sheet, blue tape, hairspray, glue.
  • Glass surface: PEI sheet, blue tape, hairspray, glue.
  • Buildtak style surface: standard Z height.
No No a Brim can help. First layer may need slightly more heat when extruding (For instance, 210C on the first layer then print other layers at 175C).
